 ARTIST RESEARCH - Kate Greenway Kate Greenway (17th March 1846- 6th November 1901) was an English Victorian artist known for her children's book illustrations. She was educated in graphic art and design from 1858-1871 at the Finsbury School of Art, the South Kensington School of Art, the Heatherley School of Art and the Slade School of Art. She began her career by designing for the greetings card market.  In 1879 she released her first children's book, Under The Window, which was an instant bestseller and established her reputation. Her depictions of children in imaginary 18th century costumes was incredibly popular in the UK and internationally, sparking the Kate Greenway style. Within a few years her work was imitated in England, Germany and the US. She was aware during her education that her work was very gaudy, partly due to her lack of knowledge of the chromoxylography process. Week 23 Watercolour resists

  Here I did 2 watercolour resists, I really love how colourful and vibrant these have both turned out like. I really love the one with the singular black lined drawing on, being me as a pirate when I was younger, due to the colour bursts of the high pigmented watercolour clashing with the black oil pastel, I think it really pops, then the words and small designs I have drawn around it, it gives me a real creative and colourful, nostalgic and child-like / childish feel to the mood and piece, I really love how it turned out and I love the contrasts between each colour and medium in between it. I think its one of my favourite things that I have done in EPQ as well as my cactus abstract charcoal drawing so far!  The other water colour resist i did was of me and my little sister when we were alot younger and wore tinsel around our heads at christmas time, I do like how this one turned out but im not completely sure about the style of it, I think its okay, but yeah, I also slightly...
