Week 11, session 11 designing derwent prize and swansea open competition pieces and enteries


 Beginning to design final pieces for Dewent prize and Swansea open!


Here I began planning for Swansea open and the derwent prize. I sketched some quick and simple ideas and some more detailed ideas down, I did some sketches of me and my sister through our childhood, and I was thinking that I could add a load of them together and create a piece out of some layered pencil drawings of me and my sister when we were little.


I feel as if this week went well, I got many ideas down and ready, I wrote some ideas and thoughts that I could possibly add or think about, and jotted down things that came to mind, being part of the design process.

I thought about what mediums I could use, for derwent prize pencil, but for Swansea open I thought about paint, charcoal, pencil, pen, all of it. But I am heavily considering going down an Illustrattive pathway for the Swansea open in particular, with pencil and fine liner. 


That was all for this week as well as some small mind maps too.

I was thinking that I could do a drawn collage of me and my sister but I also thought that I could draw a really cute picture of baby / toddler me later on. I decided to use the picture of baby / toddler me, and i began drawing, I thought that the derwent prize was strictly realism only, but i researched and there's no rules against doing illustration manga style, but i thought that this wouldnt be particularly done so- ill do realism but in a more me way, with slightly less realistic traits like shape and shadow. Im not sure just yet.

Week 13 - Cancelled so INDEPENDENT RESEARCH TRIP TO CARDIFF

 Unfortunately this week and session was cancelled. However I took this time and independently researched into my theme, and went on a trip to Cardiff instead, and took lots of primary sources as Cardiff was a huge part of mine and my sisters childhood, it was so nostalgic, and I took so many photos for primary research etc. I really looked around and as I did, I remembered so many good memories too, taking this independent trip to Cardiff city really helped inspire and inform my current and latest project with more primary sources for childhood and Nostalgia. My EPQ - Week 5 - Date : 15/OCT/25 - 13/OCT/25

Week 4, The starting and everything that i have done so far on my EPQ.  In week 1 i did many mind-maps, exploring what i could do for my EPQ theme, i did research into different pathways and areas that i could explore for my EPQ, i thought of a range of different things and ideas making sure that i am positive and decided in what i will be doing.  For the second week of my EPQ journey, i began yet more mind-maps and mood-boards, making sure that i can really portray all of my ideas down on to paper, noting it down. i filled the pieces of A3 paper really heavily, making sure to use as much paper as needed / possible as well as getting any ideas i could thinking of at the time down and noted.  On week 3, i took part in a lesson where we covered the entire classroom floor in paper, and some lied down while some did the drawing on the floor, week 3 was inspired by Tony Orrico, we tried his way / technique of drawing, where you lie on the ground and wave your arms around and d...
