week 9 session 9, blending coloured pencils, coloured pencil drawing

 Blending coloured pencils - .

Here we started practicing with our coloured pencils, we first did some tonal lines with blending with out coloured pencils. I found this really useful to do as it made me realise how to work the pencil and how they react with the type of paper I was using and how much can go on etc. After I did that, I continued on the create a coloured pencils drawing, I began by finding a primary soucr of mine of childhood and Nostalgia, I chose a picture of me and my little sister walking together in mumbles, near the arcade where we always used to go. I find this picture really special to me and it connects to me and links to my theme so I chose it. I also chose it due to the fact that it has a good level and amount of detail in it and good shapes and bits to draw, perspective as well as distance and proportion, this excited me.

I began by sketching out a rough idea, whilesign de looking and inspecting my primary source, I then started to add more detail and level to the sketch as well as referencing the sketch as well. I found this primary source reallt nice to draw as it reminded me of the memories of us being so small and going there, making it really connect to my theme abd bring forward nostalgic feelings.

After finishing sketching the idea, I started really pencilling it in and formatting the design into it, I think this part of the process went really, really well and I love how the sketch turned out, I think I included and got a lot of detail down and im super happy with the drawing, next was to colour it in with the coloured pencils and experiemnt and practice with my coloured pencils blending even further.

I chose to do this as i thought it would really benefit my skillset and really help me practice and explore more methods of drawings and illustration, I really like how the colours pop and stand out against the paper, I love the style of it, so much.

I used paper, and coloured pencils, I had a rubber on stand by and a sharpener too. I used the process of blending and shading and contoured with my art work, I sketched lightly then layed it all on. Referencing my plan, nothing changed from my plan, I stuck to it as I thought it was a good and beneficial plan, and I believe that it was a good idea and still is and it all turned out well too.

I think my plan was good and thorough and explored possibilities of messing up, but it all turned out well and I think it looks good and im happy with it too.

I think im good at the blending aspect of this technique, and I think that when I was asked to put this white glazer stuff on top, pencil, I think it ruined my first one, so I did multiple others too, as I was not happy with with blended like result but now I believe that the other ones are good and okay, certainly better than the one that had to have the pencil glaze experiment on top of it. But I dont regret any of it, due to experimentation and research into different techniques and things that I can do, and need to work on, and maybe try and explore more.

I learnt that things happen and I just need to move on as its all part of the process and experimentation that helps people become great inspiring artists. And without the bad, there would be no good.

I liked how my line work on the drawing of me and my little sister turned out, I think that it looks really good and I nailed the proportions and made it look sort of realistic but also illustrative as well, (My specialism, (Illustration) as well as Fine art too).

I think that this week really helped me focus on my aims for my project, to become good at illustration and improve even further. But another thing im happy of, is actually the exploration of colour and how it can reallt bring a picture to life and add emotion and feeling in some cases, as I usually only work in black and white, so this was a change and I found it really interesting to actually work in a bit of colour for once.
